Harvest, Seeds, and Stories

Through guided exploration, storytelling, and shared experience, participants will engage with fruit trees, seasonal changes, and the quiet knowledge held in plants.

What can an orchard teach us when we take the time to walk through it?

Harvest, Seeds & Stories is a family-centred gathering that invites children, families, and community members to explore the orchard as a place of learning, observation, and connection.

Through guided exploration, storytelling, and shared experience, participants will engage with fruit trees, seasonal changes, and the quiet knowledge held in plants.

This is a slower, reflective gathering — one that invites curiosity, noticing, and presence.

What You’ll Experience

  • A guided orchard tour exploring fruit trees and plant diversity

  • Opportunities to observe, taste, and (if ready) harvest seasonal crops

  • Family-friendly storytelling and book readings about orchards and food

  • Creative learning through photography and observation

  • A relaxed potluck with snacks and shared tables

  • Music and movement woven into the orchard setting

What Children & Families Will Take Home

  • A deeper connection to how fruit grows and changes through the season

  • Photographs and memories captured during the experience

  • A sense of wonder and appreciation for the orchard ecosystem

Why This Gathering Matters

This event creates space for:

  • Children to learn directly from land and plants

  • Families to slow down and experience food systems together

  • Community members to document and share meaningful moments

  • The orchard to become a place of cultural memory and connection

Photographs and reflections from the day may contribute to a community archive or exhibit, holding these experiences as shared memory.

Accessibility & Notes

  • Family-friendly and intergenerational

  • Outdoor orchard setting (some uneven terrain)

  • Comfortable walking shoes recommended

  • Optional: bring snacks to share

Sometimes the most important learning comes from walking slowly, looking closely, and sharing what we see.
