Jess Barton

Jess is a co-founder of Iyé Creative, a community-rooted creative, and a lifelong food lover born and raised in British Columbia. She holds a BA in Anthropology and, over the years, has contributed to anthropological and archaeological research projects grounded in long-term, respectful relationship-building with First Nation communities. As a community builder, Jess is deeply interested in how ancestral knowledge systems—shared across cultures and generations—can offer guidance for addressing modern-day imbalances. At Iyé Creative, she shares her gifts in graphic design and visual storytelling, supporting knowledge mobilization through accessible, thoughtful, and culturally grounded design. Outside of her work with Iyé, Jess enjoys hands-on making and crafting through traditional practices, finding joy in processes that slow time, carry memory, and connect people to land and lineage.
